Amy Barbera is the owner, lead chocolatier, and creative genius behind Barbera's Chocolate and Ice Cream Shoppe.
Amy studied education and graphic design. But she was always fascinated with chocolate and chocolatiering. Making chocolate was just a hobby for Amy initially, but quickly evolved into a passion, then a career.
If you have enjoyed our creations, you would think Amy learned her technique from one of the finest chocolatiers in the world. Far from it! Amy is 100% self-taught, which may explain why Amy's creations are one of a kind and so sought-after.
Early on, Amy spent every moment she could studying chocolate recipes and creations on YouTube and the web. She practiced her techniques and recipes in her home kitchen, making baskets for her Dad's clients until she was ready to take the big leap and open the shop in 2004. In its early years, the shop offered up to 40 items at a time. Today, we offer up to 200 handmade items including our decorative and seasonal specialties.
Barbera's Chocolate and Ice Cream Shoppe is a family operation. Amy's two amazing and talented daughters help during the busiest of times, and her dad enjoys helping during apple season. Amy's father also played an integral role in bringing the new shoppe to fruition. Actually, the entire staff acts and feels like a family, and our customers often compliment us on this vibe.
